Big Dreams
In 2009, after writing on and off for five years, I finished a film script. At the time it was the largest thing that I created. It was a struggle, it was fun, it was completely me. Finally, It was finished and I was happy.
I gave a half-assed attempt to give it life beyond the page. A few query letters fell on deaf ears and I was quickly disillusioned. The scope was beyond anything I could create as an independent filmmaker. The story was grand and would need a Hollywood budget to do it justice on the silver screen but Hollywood wasn’t interested.
So what did I do with it? Nothing. It sat in a dusty digital box. It’s name living on only in various online handles. I would see the name often and over time the name became disassociated with the original work. Life went on. Other things were created, things that I am also proud of, both humans and stories.
Then one night laying in bed I thought “Why not?” and without hearing a proper reason as to why I shouldn’t I decided I would.
Fifteen years later I am again working on a little story called Steve Vs Grillo.
